Updated: Nov 9, 2023

November 8, 2023—Last night, Grammy-winning artist Maren Morris performed her new track “The Tree” alongside Mickey Guyton and Brittney Spencer on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon”—watch here.

Additionally, Maren played a sold-out show at The Bowery Ballroom on Monday night, the second in a series of very special and intimate shows for The Lunatics, Maren’s official fan club. It follows her sold-out show at Joe’s on Weed Street in Chicago earlier this month, featuring support from queer country singer Adam Mac, who caught Maren’s attention after posting a video explaining his decision to cancel a festival appearance due to anti-LGBTQ backlash.

Furthermore, Maren will receive the Changemaker Award at Variety’s seventh annual Hitmakers celebration this year for her work as a songwriter and advocate for change in the country music industry. She will be honored alongside Hitmaker of the Year, SZA, as well as MetroBoomin, Boygenius, Olivia Rodrigo and more.

“The Tree” is taken from Maren’s recently released two-track EP, The Bridge, which features the Greg Kurstin-produced song and “Get the Hell Out of Here,” produced by Jack Antonoff—listen/share here and watch the Jason Lester-directed videos here. She recently appeared as the first-ever guest on The New York Times Popcast (Deluxe) to discuss The Bridge and her opinions on country music at large—watch the full interview with critics Joe Coscarelli and Jon Caramanica here.

The EP has earned widespread critical acclaim, with Vogue raving, “There’s an evergreen brilliance to Morris’s body of work,” and Rolling Stone praising “The Tree” for its “swaying, hopeful pop quality that betrays the exasperation of her lyrics.” CNN summed it up best as “fiery.”

Last year was a standout year for the superstar. She released her critically acclaimed album Humble Quest, which was named to best of the year lists from Pitchfork, the Los Angeles Times and Rolling Stone and earned her three Grammy nominations. She celebrated the album with the Humble Quest Tour, a run of headline shows at iconic venues across the U.S. Earlier this year, she covered Billboard’s Pride month issue, was honored at the GLAAD Media Awards for her efforts as an ally and performed at Nashville’s Love Rising Benefit, which raised money to fight anti-LGBTQ legislation in Tennessee, as well as a handful of festivals including Something In The Water, Merlefest and Boston Calling. She also made a surprise guest appearance at Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, performed with Brandi Carlile and The Highwomen at The Gorge Amphitheater in June and toured arenas with The Chicks through Canada and Europe.

Maren Morris is one of the leading voices in music today, a powerhouse armed with incredible vocal stylings and songwriting chops, sheer talent and an undeniable presence. In addition to a Grammy win and seventeen nominations, Maren has won five ACM Awards, five CMA Awards, three Billboard Music Awards, with several additional wins and nominations. She has also broken streaming records, performed on late night TV multiple times, guest hosted “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and toured the world over, selling out venues across the globe. She has released three critically acclaimed albums—HERO from 2016, GIRL from 2019 and Humble Quest from 2022—and her hit collaboration, “The Middle,” with Zedd from 2018 is six times Platinum-certified.
