Just two weeks after she garnered two Grammys for her Album, Hiding Place, L.A. based singer/songwriter Tori Kelly has set out on a U.S. and Canadian Tour that has commenced in Arizona and will continue covering multiple stops through April 13th.
In a throwback a la VH1 Storytellers, Tori has stripped down for The Acoustic Sessions with only one sidekick, guitarist Mateus Asato. She began by setting the tone complete with living room set, couch and low-level lighting; illustrating to the audience we’ve been invited to an intimate evening among friends. As she performed, she confirmed with every note that she needs nothing more than a microphone and guitar as her raw and uninhibited vocals have depth of range all on their own. With each song, her signature long and soulful runs remind the audience she is a master of voice.
She moved through the experiences of her musical journey, the hard road, heart break and persistence that has now paid off. Tori made time to simultaneously story tell and sing through the chronological path her music has lead her through and the emotions and events which have inspired her songs. She’s proving for the masses that THIS is what real music is about. As I take in each song and observe the most loyal fan base sing in unison, I can’t help but think; she hasn’t changed one bit from the girl who started writing songs as a teen in her bedroom alone with her guitar. Only now, she’s got millions of friends listening in.
Tori Kelly recently released her soulful new single, “Change Your Mind.” Tori Penned the song with Jimmy Napes (Sam Smith, Disclosure, Mary J. Blige), who also produced it. Download / Stream “Change Your Mind” HERE (credit Capitol Music)
